Better Spaces CIC

Every child deserves one calm room to call their own

Families in temporary accommodation and low-income housing have a legal right to safe housing — but not always to a dignified one. We transform rooms, one at a time, into calm and stable spaces for children to grow.

A freshly transformed children's bedroom, calm and tidy

The Problem

Safe on paper. Unstable in reality.

Overcrowding

Children sharing rooms with mismatched, broken or ill-fitting furniture, with no space that feels their own.

Chaotic layouts

Poorly configured rooms that feel disordered and overwhelming, wearing families down day after day.

Institutional feel

Even where structural standards are met, spaces can feel temporary, cold and stripped of dignity.

How It Works

From referral to reveal

01

Referral

A family is referred by a support worker, housing officer or through our own contact form.

02

Design & source

Our volunteers design a calm, functional layout and source furnishings suited to the space and the child.

03

The transformation

In a single visit, the room is cleared, reconfigured and restyled — ready for a fresh start.

Get Involved
